Did you know that containers can be lost?
Although rare, this has happened before! Just a few days ago, a call from our driver, already at the port, saying "Hey, they're telling me that the container is lost." sent our team into panic mode.
It is possible that a container can be misplaced in the port yard, accidentally picked up by another company, or the information could be recorded incorrectly. Whatever the case, make sure to get proof from the port trouble window to show that it is the port's issue!
Then, take a deep breath, email the port's customer support team to report that the container is "NIL" (this is where a comprehensive list of port contacts comes in handy). Ask the port to extend the last free day (LFD), or waive late charges. You can track the container's status on the port's user portal and request the port team to keep you updated. Typically, containers are found very quickly, within a day or two. Afterall, it is difficult to lose something as big and heavy as a container!
